Do you think parents waste too much money of baby equipment like prams etc these days…?

Posted on February 12th, 2010 by admin

for example some people I know spend around £500-700 just on a pram! And can often spend thousands of pounds for a nursery. There is this assumption around that if you do not buy the latest baby products then you are not a good parent and not a yummy mummy (or daddy lol)

Do you think this attitude should change? And is an unhealthy attitude to have?

For example my mum said that when I was born she got a second hand pram from her sister-in-law and it lasted for many years. Also clothes would pass from household to household around the village so that new clothes wouldn’t always have to be brought. This wasn’t a long time ago either only 80s/90s.

What is your opinion on this, are parents spending too much?

Of course they are, ever since Mothercare started up.

Parents are spending it for themselves, not for the baby, Time was just having the baby was enough for most people without having all the expensive tat that goes with it these days – and it is hardly sustainable to run out and buy it all over agin if you have another one.

Why do women pushing babies in prams think they have the right of way in ALL CIRCUMSTANCES?

Posted on February 9th, 2010 by admin

It really pisses me off. You had a baby, it’s your problem. Why the hell should I get out of your way just ’cause you couldn’t keep your legs crossed?
Wow, touch a nerve huh?

Listen, my problem is not with mothers puching their babies around in prams. Generally, I do step out of their way (thank you all very much for assuming I try to throw their babies in to the street). My problem is the arrogance with which they ASSUME we’re all going to move.

On crowded buses, streets and trains they barge through like they’re on their way to saving the world from an alien invasion. They throw you dirty looks if you don’t move, EVEN WHEN IT’S PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU TO GET OUT OF THEIR WAY.
And another thing, why do babies take priority over everyone else? Why is it that at a certain age people just fall off your love radar?

"Babies can’t look after themselves."
"Babies are the future"

What am I? The past? Do I not have a right to walk down the street without people hurling abuse at me because I hate walking behind slow people? Damn it people wake up. I have as much respect for mothers as I do for everyone else (which is generally none). My question was why do they think they have the right of way IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES. Why did nobody read the last three words of the question? Don’t start venting your hate out on me because you get tired halfway through a sentence.

lol your funny. dont pet the sweaty stuff… er something like that.

How to clean the lambskin in baby’s pram…?

Posted on February 7th, 2010 by admin

I’ve recently bought a lambskin to go in my sons pram and on the packet it says not to wash it in wool shampoo as it will damage the leather… I was wondering how to clean it? Any ideas?

Thanks mums!

Lambskin needs to be dry-cleaned. Choose a reputable cleaner to be sure the job is done correctly. It is well worth the money.

Anyone know where I can find an antique pram baby stroller?

Posted on February 5th, 2010 by admin

I’m pregnant and would really like to buy an antique pram. They’re the really cute strollers with the big wheels from the early 1900s. Does anyone know of a website where I can find them for sale???

I have one I was getting ready to put on craigslist. It was given to me by a friend and I have never used it. It is gray with big white wheels. I am asking $100 for it. I can send you a picture if you are interested.

What’s the best way to clean a baby’s pram after using it to transport manure?

Posted on February 2nd, 2010 by admin

I take it you’re gardening and couldn’t find a wheelbarrow.

In that case, take off all the cloth covers and put them in the washing machine. Use bleach on the whites. Hose down the metal/plastic parts and spray them also with Lysol. Then hose them again.

Better yet, just get a new one. Babies often put their fingers and toes in their mouth, as well as toys. If your manure is contaminated, it could make the baby sick.
